Although we live in paradise here in Delray Beach, sometimes it’s nice to get away for a few days. Luckily there are many gorgeous resorts in the area, making it possible to take a luxury vacation without having to travel far at all. Here are some of our favorite staycation spots near Delray Beach, with some recommendations coming from the Delray Raw community.
Eau Palm Beach in Manalapan
Drive 15 minutes north to Manalapan, and you’ll feel transported to a chic, colorful beachy paradise at the Eau Palm Beach. The resort was designed by Jonathan Adler, who fearlessly blended turquoise, navy, sunny yellow, and bursts of silver, punctuated by needlepoint and prints of Slim Aarons photography. In the suites there is no shortage of color and texture, no matter which direction that you look. And whatever you do, do NOT skip a trip to the Eau Spa!
Sundy House in Delray Beach
Although only a few blocks from the heart of downtown Delray Beach, a trip to Sundy House feels like being transported somewhere far away. Built in 1902, the Victorian structure has all the Old Florida touches— bamboo, archaic stone, wooden mantels, and handpainted details coexist with the Queen Anne revival architecture. Outdoors, you’ll find tranquil paths of turtle- and fish-filled ponds, waterfalls, streams, benches, gazebos, and the oldest documented Royal Poinciana tree in Palm Beach County, planted in 1919. Sundy House also has a hidden cenote, and a freshwater swimming pool to cool off in.
In addition to beautiful surroundings, Sundy House has the BEST Sunday brunch buffet in town, offering omelet, crepe, and carving stations, a selection of charcuterie and cheeses, an assortment of hot dishes, a seafood bar that includes oysters and king crab legs, and an impressive dessert bar.
The Breakers in Palm Beach
Palm Beach’s most lavish, long-lived landmark is steeped in history and tradition, but thanks to constant reinvestment by the owners, it always feels fresh and relevant. We can’t get enough of The Breakers’ high, curved painted ceilings, sparkling chandeliers and marble pillars. Outside, the large bungalows are appointed with beach house–style furniture, private loungers, a semi-outdoor shower, a stocked fridge, and concierge service to cater to your every need.
We could go on all day about all the amazing resorts in the area, but we also wanted to mention these great staycation spots worth looking into:
The Colony Hotel
Waterstone Resort & Marina
Crane’s Beach House
Boca Raton Resort
The Seagate Hotel & Spa
